I know it's easy to think 'how stupid' people are to send their influencers money. But when you realise the people you are referring to include young children, then that's another thing. One influencer states her average fan was 10-14 but felt uncomfortable receiving gifts (money) from what she describes as very young followers. Clearly showing my age because I count 10-14 as very young, but clearly not.
The exploitation of social media users in this way is as bad as it gets. You would expect brands to run away from Tik Tok in revulsion. Expect they won't as the Facebook experience showed it doesn't matter the crime if the site still sells.
More regulation will be around the corner and plenty of fines I expect.
She said her average fan was about 10 to 14 years old and they were always happy with the perks she offered in exchange for gifts. But she also feels uncomfortable when she receives several gifts from very young followers.
