As someone who has climbed the career ladder in one company over coming up to 8 years (gulp!) I find it surprising numbers of people having 5+ jobs by the time they are 34.
That said, with so many jobs on offer nowadays it does make sense that people will move on for an increase in salary, more responsibility and potentially a new challenge.
I guess as an employer, and manager of 14 people, what I need to take from this is that people, even if they aren't actively looking, may have their heads turned by attractive opportunities if they are approached with them.
So, make sure you are providing those you value in your team with new challenges, responsibilities and rewards - no matter how happy you assume they are! Better that than find someone else has tempted them with the promise of these things instead!
Tempo surveyed over 2,000 British employees aged between 18 and 34 and discovered that 28 per cent have had more than five jobs since they joined the UK workforce.
