The Founding 50 is a brilliant initiative - set up last year to encourage young people into a career within marketing.
What is important here is to give people a solid understanding of what 'marketing' actually is, and all the different forms and job roles it can transpire into.
With so many different ways to reach out to consumers nowadays, here on the Graduate team at Aspire, we find about 80% of our applicants express an interesting in getting into 'marketing' without the inability to describe what that looks like day to do or answer the question 'why' beyond some strung together sentences citing the fact they are a social media user.
As such, giving people real insight into the true opportunities within the industry is a great start and will hopefully give people a bit more clarity on why marketing is such a great career choice.
Known as the Founding 50, these marketers came together for their first meeting last month to discuss how they intend to reach out to schools and spread the message that marketing is a fulfilling and exciting career for people with a diverse range of skills.
