GDPR is almost upon us. Yet for many small businesses it's just dawning on them how they have been bullied into a regulation because of the activity of corporate empires. Small eCommerce businesses that have been healthily growing via growth hacking now find that they are presented with a significant cost of understanding of how to apply a vague regulation because of abuse by corporations.
If 67% of consumers will want to be forgotten, how many will "opt out of all" when presented with such an opportunity on eCommerce sites. Sure, Amazon will have some brilliant solution that they have invested heavily in; but how about a small hotel, eCommerce player or charity?
Whilst few can disagree with the purpose of the regulation, many companies are going to have to rethink their marketing strategies which will provide the greatest test yet for digital marketers.
