It is perhaps a sign of the times that Apple iPods are already regarded as 'retro', largely replaced by the mass appeal of downloading music straight to a smartphone. The must-have device of the early noughties has been, in my opinion, sadly consigned to history.
However, I proudly still own one and use it every day of my London commute. I couldn't imagine being without all the 80s albums of my childhood, and the live bootlegs of my favourite bands. It's not just the nostalgia of rediscovering an old playlist, but more the simplicity of accessing ALL my music on the move.
For me, the iPod is one of the most pioneering electronics products of the 21st century.
When colleagues who are maybe 8-10 years younger than me see my iPod they crowd around the ‘antique’, which is black and white, has no touch screen or click wheel - it’s quite funny how times change!
