Margaret Mountford who appeared regularly on the UK Apprentice says that they harm the job prospects of the young. Strange view if you ask me. I agree that there are some tattoos that could be considered extreme or offensive but the vast majority are invisible under clothes, particularly in an office based work place. In the digital, media, creative and marketing services sectors they are as normal as shorts and flip flops. Concerned employers need to discover the skills and personality of the candidate not what they look like.
They are a real problem for young people because there are swathes of the workplace where it is simply not appropriate to be greeted by a young person with a tattoo.
