We hear so much about fabulous working hours, flexibility some clients are offering, zero holiday limits... therefore one might have thought given the current trends in the workforce that work /life balance and flexible working would have represented a higher % and placement in this survey. Yes they are top 10, but 3rd and joint 7th place. A competitive salary and benefits package still came out on top. Are we seeing a slight change in people's priorities as the markets stay tight, and great opportunities are potentially a little harder to come by?
According to a survey of 8,100 UK employees by Randstad, 22% of respondents value a competitive salary and benefits package over any other work perks. 16% named long-term job security as their number one factor, and work/life balance took third place (nine per cent.) Location, invigorating tasks and a pleasant atmosphere were also a priority for respondents.
