With Birkenstock's recent announcement that they are withdrawing their products sold via Amazon's main US portal, and the Amazon Marketplace, will we now see more retailers protect their brand by doing the same?
As a consumer, I support Birkenstock's stance against fraudulent counterfeits of their goods, as it sends a positive message that despite the economies of scale supporting Amazon's supply chain, they are prepared to pull their products from the retailer's website.
If this lessens the risk of consumers inadvertently purchasing fake goods via a trusted e-commerce site, then that has to be a good thing.
Well done Bikenstock for taking their brand protection seriously.
