There is a lot of research that shows men and women behave differently. It is widely accepted that if there were more women working in leadership roles for the banking industry we would not have had the financial meltdown ion 2008. If we had more female world leaders we would be less likely to have war. So most can agree that men and women are fundamentally different.

Kate Stanners makes a great point that women need greater encouragement and more role models. Men 'assume' the right to lead regardless of our competency to do so. Women can be more cautious about putting themselves forward and unless men in leadership positions encourage women and give them the confidence to fulfill their aspirations based on their talent, organisations will never benefit from the full range of competencies contained in their workforce.
