Earlier this year I wrote a short piece about job search flexibility being a two-way street, for both candidates and clients alike. In an increasingly crowded market, the savvy candidate can differentiate themselves from the competition by exercising a transparent, pragmatic approach - but still remain open to what the client also wants to achieve with their hiring strategy. By exercising a little common sense, you can set yourself apart from others. It's your job search after all.
Firms have also had to adapt to the rigours of the market by adopting several flexible solutions to the attorney-shortage. Flexible working is not just defined as working from home once in a while, as there have been an increasing number of alternatives that aren’t always made visible when applying for a role: i.e. flexible hours to fit around other commitments; alternating between office and home working; more part-time solutions and even working from another country entirely.
