By combining classic video-game characters , VR and a healthy lifestyle aspect Pokemon Go has taken the world by storm. The technical aspects are impressive and have already been discussed at length, but what about the scope for the marketing world?

Already some smaller stores have been attracting an engaged and captive audience by placing a lure (a device that brings Pokemon to the area) by their stores to increase footfall and also by turning their shops into 'Pokestops' so that in-game items can be claimed. The opportunities for bigger brands are equally as exciting, special edition items and characters could be linked to specific companies and the whole in-game world is also ripe for targeted advertising.
